Celebrating the fine art of Japanese cooking, Robun prides itself in putting a modern spin on Yakiniku, as well as creating exquisite sushi and pairing everything with an envy-inducing Japanese whisky collection.
Taking pride and place in central Bath, Ruben calls one of the city's many Georgian buildings home. Grand and celestial, it boasts sky-high ceilings that are ornate with patterns and carvings whilst the walls showcase stunning, hand-drawn paintings depicting Japanese life. As for the ground level, slick furnishings and elegant lighting make for a sophisticated yet familiar feel. And with plenty of Japanese charm around every corner, including life-size 3D models of the dishes themselves, Robun offers a fully immersive dining experience that is the talk of the town.
The menu is designed to be savoured, so take your time and order some sushi to start. Decorate the table with the likes of yellowtail sashimi, tempura rolls, soft shell crab rolls and salmon nigiri. You could also add some small plates into the mix with a selection of seasonal tempura vegetables, popcorn shrimp and chicken gyoza. And if you're feeling really decadent, go all out with a yellowtail carpaccio that simply melts on the tongue.
Now, onto Robun's signature dish. Having perfected the art of over-fire cooking, their mains take inspiration from this centuries-old style of cooking. It works a smoky magic on their salmon teriyaki, Iberico baby pork ribs and beef sirloin. The same can be said for their chicken skewers and lamb cutlets too. And with authentic sides like miso soup, kimchee fried rice and vegetable kakiage, Robun's vision of Japan fuses tradition with modernity to astounding effect. It's quite unlike anything else.
