Glittering in grandeur and opulence, Chakana is a modern Peruvian concept from the celebrated Robert Ortiz. A historical location and a Michelin star chef at the helm make this restaurant simply unmissable.
Looming ceilings, towering pillars and stunning original features make a historic old bank the perfect location for such an eatery. And they've juxtaposed its ancient walls with a quirky, modern fit-out. An eye-catching indigo bar serves as the colourful centrepiece whilst patterned chairs, bright booths and contemporary art give this place plenty of pop. If anything, it reflects the menu's ethos which reimagines traditional dishes with a modern eye.
For starters, Robert's team takes inspiration from the cold starters served in Peru that are typically made from raw fish. That's why you'll find sea bream ceviche, salmon tiradito, and octopus causa, as well as vegetarian-friendly offerings like Andean corn ceviche and artichoke causa.
For mains, they have an equal distribution of meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes. Here you'll find the likes of confit suckling pig next to braised squid with an Andean potato stew, roasted seabass alongside braised palm hearts and duck escabeche standing tall next to a butternut squash locro. Peruvian food at its most vibrant and versatile, discover this country's magnificent landscapes at Chakana.
