Not many Brighton residents realise that back in 1976 Michael Garman returned from travelling in Provence and the west coast of Italy so inspired that he decided to open Brighton's first Mediterranean steakhouse. For the first time the city could order Fresh pasta, arancini, dry aged beef, tiramisu and negronis.

47 years later and open by Michael's son Abe and it still stands by the same principles. Local suppliers and produce and the best available dry aged British beef. Situated in an 18th century fisherman's cottage which is only fitting after Michael spent years in Portofino, Saint-Tropez and Livorno Il Bistro has stood the test of time.
