Ffresh outta the box with even 'ffresher' thinking is this little eatery which heralds the finest produce in fare, green Wales.
Your dining experience at Ffresh is about so much more than the food. Thanks to its programme of side-splitting comedy, lively cabaret and soulful live music, it has become a communal hub in the heart of Cardiff. Vibing out on showbiz, jazz hands and twinkle-toes, their dining room is playful and fun. Sculpted tree trunks encircle the dining area, while all manner of glittery objects dangle from the ceiling; it's a truly remarkable space. Just wait until the lights drop and the live musicians take to the stage – the venue isn't a far cry from an enchanted wood!
The menu gives you the option to share small plates with your dining partner or order a large plate for yourself. The small plates are compact pocketfuls of flavour. Try some of the best Welsh seafood on the market with their lemon and lime salmon fishcakes or say 'cheese' with their battered brie wedges that come with a sweet apricot compote. Asian flavours are also placed in the spotlight, with a reviving Asian salad as well as calamari and cheese coated with rice noodles.
There are just three large plates which, misleadingly, doesn't make your decision any easier (because they're all so damn tasty!) Choose from the pan-fried pollock, roasted chicken supreme or baked courgette salad. Then, get a round of drinks in and let their critically acclaimed entertainment whisk you away for the evening. Apparently a full stomach isn't conducive to a night of riotous giggles...
