Classic Southern plates never looked so good. At Americana, favourite comforting flavours are served in a slick, cosmopolitan setting for an evening you're unlikely to forget.

Located in Haymarket a short walk from National Gallery, Americana is a vision of thoughtful interior design. Glamorous with tropes of the American diner, the glossy tiled walls host plush leather booths and chairs, marble-topped tables and a twinkling bar that promises signature cocktails and international wines. Upstairs, you'll find a more private space that is graced by jaw-dropping chandeliers, modern art and plenty of candles. And if you want to be in the midst of the action, head to their saloon-like bar that seduces guests with its cosy horseshoe booths and 1920s charm.

And when it comes to the food, the bigger the better. Stealing the show are, of course, Americana's legendary grass-fed 30-day-aged British and Irish steaks. Served with creamy mash and a sauce of your choice, this is a staple in Southern American kitchens. And the boisterous plates don't stop there. Take your pick of the towering Americana, buttermilk fried chicken or vegan burger, or tackle a rack of sticky pork ribs or mountain of Texas chilli with rice, sour cream and other toppings.

This is food for the soul. If you fancy something a little lighter, opt for the blackened seared salmon or baked stone bass fillet and pair it with any of their tasty sides. Then, say howdy to a sparkly cocktail or a whiskey from their extensive collection. After all, this is Texas!
