This cosy restaurant in the Wimbledon dining scene is daring to do things differently. In true Gladwin Brothers' style, the hunter-gatherer approach to sourcing ingredients reigns supreme, giving way to sumptuous eats that are delicious, and 100% British.
The newest addition to the Gladwin Brothers flock, The Black Lamb has got everyone talking. A major renovation has given way to this modern, chic restaurant in Wimbledon Village. Effortlessly elegant, the eatery is making a splash in this dynamic and varied space, breathing new life with an uplifting turquoise, cream and brown colour scheme. Slick and stylish booths welcome you upon entry, inviting you to ease gently into the evening with a cocktail or two before moving into the swish dining room that's brightened up further with a dramatic skylight. An eatery with endless possibilities, allow the Gladwin brothers to take you on a glamorous journey through contemporary British cooking.
Their mission? To showcase experimental recipes that cast the spotlight on Britain's bountiful lands. To begin, keep it light and tasty with a sea bream tartare punctuated with salty soy mushrooms, a classic ham hock terrine with juicy apple pearls, or the wild garlic fusilli with a decadent veal ragu. Maybe the latter option isn't so forgiving on the appetite, but it's simply too good to miss! On to the mains and we have beef sirloin straight from Lyons Hill, grilled to perfection and served with pickles and a salted caramel horseradish sauce. Now that's a first! On the menu are pork tenderloin with braised pig cheek, panfried seabass, or a refreshing pea and mint risotto that will make other diners green with envy.
Of course, no one does pudding like the Brits. That's why you're encouraged to indulge your sweet tooth with a gooseberry curd tart or caramel and chocolate torte. A unique and adventurous offering by The Gladwin Brothers, The Black Lamb is bound to be Wimbledon's next hot ticket.
