Curators of fully sensory dining that leaves every nerve ending tingling, The Mayan promises to blend ancient Mayan flavours with all the boldness of modern Mexican cuisine. The restaurant itself is equally as bold. One can hardly believe their eyes when they see an ancient tree trunk ascending through the middle of the dining hall, surrounded by an illuminated ceiling to give one the feeling that heaven is its destination. Surrounding this immense centrepiece is a gold-plated wall depicting ancient symbols and tables that are set perfectly with not a single shimmering wine glass out of place.

If opulence is on the agenda for lunch, enjoy the fruits of their compact menu that is varied and delicious. From pan-seared seabass to rump steak, king oyster mushroom 'scallops' and sides of Baja fish tacos and authentic Mexican soups, the size of the menu says nothing about the variety on offer.

Dinner, on the hand, holds nothing back with an extensive menu that touches every cornerstone of the Mayan and Mexican cuisine. Tacos form great starters with fillings of pulled chicken, octopus and pork belly whilst the seabass and salmon ceviche pose no risk to your appetite. The grill comes in strong for mains with meaty succulence in the form of marinated lamb cutlets and 25-day-aged ribeye.
