Anyone who's anyone knows The Bobbin, also known as Tim Bobbin - the painter, poet and pint guzzler - this pub is a Clapham treasure and has plenty of interesting stories to tell.
Like many British pubs, The Bobbin has been around a fair few years... and what we mean by that is an entire century! It's cosy, rustic and friendly, making for a quaint escape in busy Clapham. The building has been revamped with the 21st century in mind, breathing new life into the old venue with optimistic shades of blue that, when contrasted against a solid oak bar and furnishings, makes for a traditional come modern approach that diners love.
And although it's very British in look and feel, they're serving a Mediterranean menu that delivers summer vibes all year long. The starters kick things off nicely with Jerusalem artichoke velouté, a small portion of saffron risotto, and chicken and pork croquettes that are crispy on the outside and squidgy on the inside.
Mains turn it up a notch with a simple Italian sausage pasta dish, roast duck with rainbow chard and muscat grapes, and, finally, a unique take on the beef burger with mozzarella, jalapeno mayonnaise and prime minced beef. Of course, dessert is taken with the utmost seriousness which is why ice creams, sticky toffee puddings and seasonal crumbles can be found all year long.
