As ever, the cheery, luscious bower of flowers makes itself cosy around the front door. Then, inside these historic doors you'll find a brand-new look and feel with a distinctly wooden interior that creates an earthy, rustic feel with hints of contemporary glamour. Striking mirrors plaster the walls, art-deco lamps hang daintily from the walls and intimate corners are joined by glossy leather booths for that irresistible members-club-meets-farmhouse feel. It's worlds away from the busy London streets outside.

The menu focuses on local ingredients, cooked with an edge of gastronomic excellence and decadence. For starters, indulge in a rich chicken liver parfait with a devilish damson jelly, a citrus-cured seabream with smoked taramasalata and savoury French toast with slow cooked eggs and English peas. This is one step above your standard pub supper.

For mains, you can expect classics like the juicy American-style beef burger and fish and chips with plenty of mushy peas. But the showstopper has to be the sticky pig cheek with roasted pork fillet and cauliflower puree. Not only does it use many parts of the mighty animal, it keeps you on your toes with mustard greens and pink potatoes that cut through the richness.
