Inspired by the journeys, big and small, taken around India, Patri draws inspiration from the aromatic foods found at India's railway stations and in transit through its jaw-dropping landscapes.
Its unique take on the Indian cuisine is thanks to founder Puneet Waghwani, who has reincarnated the dishes he relished as a child around New Delhi train station. Indeed, the restaurant itself has an urban edge that is reminiscent of big-city stations. Distressed, whitewashed walls, dark wooden furnishings and spray painted logos evokes the hustle and bustle that makes on-the-go food so unique.
Designed for taste and convenience, diners at Patri can indulge in beautiful plates without the fear of missing a connection. Boyfriend chaat, a dish of wheat flour discs topped with vermicelli, forms much of the Indian train ride experience, as do the Tandoori chicken wings and Old Delhi yoghurt bombs, which are just as exciting as they sound.
For any travellers searching a more substantial feed, the veg and meat rice bowls are their best companion. From daals to creamy paneer curries, braised lamb shoulder and Keralan king prawn curry, these are made for get-up-and-go. Although, at Patri, you can relax with a cocktail afterwards. With spritely sips mixed with India's most daring flavour combinations in mind, this is where Patri elevates street food to something else entirely. The final stop is up to you...
