Patri's story begins on the pavements and railways in India and Pakistan, where food carts serve nourishing and tasty morsels to anyone and everyone.

It's this welcoming, communal spirit that sets Patri apart from the rest. Founder, Puneet Wadhwani, immortalises the dishes he grazed on while cycling around New Delhi's hectic station. How's that for authenticity? From the railway station come traditional travelling snacks and from the streets come steaming curries and gifts from the tandoori grill, all dressed up to suit this high-end establishment.

As the neon sign in their hipster dining room rightly states, 'We are on a journey' and that journey is terribly yummy! On one side you have a wall of corrugated iron, the other is worn and grungy which affords this eatery that 'shipping-container-come-street-market' vibe... if that's even a thing. Whether it's a thing or not, it's a seriously edgy spot and thanks to its enormous skylight, it's eternally flooded with natural light.

Straight from the street vendors come the Indian classics, like boyfriend chaat, paneer tikka khurchan and the special raj kachori. If you fancy dinner on a skewer (perfect if you're running late) try their seekh kebab and tandoori chicken while your dining partner tucks into the warming lamb shank, swimming in a rich, spicy gravy. And with a vegetarian and vegan menu, everyone can tuck in before heading off on their next adventure.
