Cheese is the answer to life's many trials and tribulations. Needless to say, Clifton's residents were ecstatic to see a restaurant dedicated entirely to their favourite comfort food, and the feeling's mutual for every visitor who walks through their doors.
An elegant yet contemporary restaurant, The Cheese Platter enjoys a demure, sophisticated interior design that heralds the building's original features and beautiful bay windows. Natural shades like the wooden floor, burgundy leather booths and dark velvet seats strike a rather luxurious note whilst the cream walls, uncluttered décor and ample natural light keep things relaxed, not to mention the best view from any restaurant in Bristol, with the outdoor tables overlooking the fabulous private garden of The Vincent serviced apartments.
As for the food menu, The Cheese Platter is plating up all the goods. Dive straight into artisan cheese heaven with some sublimely smoky manchego and chorizo arancini, a baked camembert with heaps of garlic and thyme and a seasonal Montgomery cheddar, apple and parsnip soup. Alternatively, visit the seaside for some smoked haddock and applewood croquettes.
And it only gets cheesier. From dry-aged sirloin steak topped with Devon blue, to the signature artisan macaroni and cheese quartet with smokey chorizo, and lamb rump with a devilishly cheesy Bath blue gratin, this restaurant is out here to prove that artisan cheese has its place in every dish. And that's a philosophy we can all get behind.
