Here's a fresh ethnicity entering the New Town venue circuit. Veeno is bringing its excellent selection of wine, food and stylish atmosphere south. The Italian wine café, created by two pals, Nino and Andrea, stocks 20 assortments of vino exclusive to the brand, as well as some snacks you won't find anywhere else in Edinburgh.

To kick things off in the finest fashion, there's the aperitivo - the time-honoured Italian tradition of drinking and snacking between lunch and dinner. Customers are urged to share a glass of spumante with one of Veeno's bespoke Nibbles Boards, which merge the best Italian cheeses and meats like mozzarella di bufala and salame felino.

If you're heading in for something a little more substantial, aim for the Urban Pizza selection. Each mini-pizza is rolled up and baked, perfectly portioned for sharing with your tipsy compatriots. We recommend getting one of the charcuterie platters too - they come loaded with spicy soppressata, criminally creamy gorgonzola and fresh Focaccia bread.
