For proper Ramen in and out of London, it has to be Tonkotsu.

What started as a Saturday night pop-up in the city quickly became a fully-fledged British institution, showcasing the finest Ramen from all around Japan.

Over a decade on and Tonkotsu has branches in London and beyond. Over in Walthamstow, their quirky restaurant is always a favourite with diners. Brimming with personality, their open-plan diner lets you enjoy Ramen your way, be it on a bar stool, in the midst of the action or tucked away in a sectioned-off booth for added privacy.

In the early days, the dynamic duo was making 400 gyozas every Friday night in time for Saturday suppers. Now they’ve got some extra pairs of hands to bring their pork, prawn and shiitake gyozas to life. They’re the perfect prelude to a hot bowl of noodles!

Cooked for a split 32 seconds, their homemade noodles can be found swimming in all kinds of rich broths. From chicken, kunbu and shiitake, pork and miso, these ramens are quite unlike anything you’ll else find in the city. Studied and perfected for years, Ken and Emma are the tastebuds behind each and every bowl. And with katsu curries and noodle salads on the menu too, Tonkotsu always delivers the goods.
