Hidden away in South Norwood, the Shelverdine Goathouse is a warm and welcoming neighbourhood pub.
Housed in a beautifully restored historic building, it oozes charm and character. The Shelverdine Goathouse reopened its doors following a spectacular refurb back in 2016. Since then, it has become a hotspot for locals looking for an alternative to the generic watering holes that can be found elsewhere.
Whilst instantaneously welcoming, this pub's charm wields its power through the fine detail. Cute wooden furniture is in abundance, while decorated lampshades and cosy and alluring lighting add to the appeal. The bar itself spans a large part of the downstairs, enmeshing a gastro pub-style seating area. Drinks-wise, you’ll be spoilt for choice thanks to an impressive array of craft beer, cider, and wine (to name but a few).
The food here is lapped up by families, couples and groups of friends. Gourmet pub classics are a firm favourite with punters and all can be enjoyed alongside a regularly changing seasonal menu that features exciting takes on modern British bites. And finally, no burger has reached the dizzy culinary heights of what the Young's and Burgershed guys have put together at Shelverdine Goathouse.
With a regular calendar of events - ranging from quiz nights to live music - there’s always something happening. Local families make the most of the large outdoor area, safe in the knowledge that their brood is welcome. Speaking of families, the dog isn’t left out of the events either… the summer sees a dog show pop up, making those with a furry friend decidedly happy.
