Alioli

Not to be confused with the garlic mayo dip we can't get enough of, Alioli is serving up a summery taste of Spain with spritely paellas, Spanish pizzas and tasty tapas.

Not that you could forget that Spain is the main source of inspiration, however. Fabulous flamenco dancers at the height of the walls are hand-painted in all their fierce colours and are here to remind you that life is for living and inhibitions are best left on the doorstep. Indeed, this restaurant is very much living its best life decked out in all the colours of the rainbow, luscious vine bowers and mesmerising Mediterranean tiles that give cosy corners and the bar itself a rustic and authentic feel.

Let's start with the tapas menu, as it works beautifully as an appetite tickler before the main event. From deep-fried padron peppers to patatas bravas, crispy croquetas and chorizo slow-cooked for hours in a rich red wine, there's so much here that you could also enjoy these for the whole meal if you so desire.

It's a good idea to check out their Spanish pizzas which are central to Catalonian gastronomy. These crispy, oval-shaped doughs are topped with fresh and aromatic ingredients like squishy eggplant, grilled chicken breast, caramelised onions, goat cheese, tuna, spicy chorizo and more; they certainly give Italy a run for its money! Then you have their quartet of delicious paellas too.
