An elegant British gastropub through and through, The Highbury Barn is every bit as rustic and cosy as it sounds. It's an authentic slice of the countryside in the middle of London's prettiest boroughs.
It looks every bit the part, towering over Highbury Park with old Victorian grandeur, calling out to anyone who's on the hunt for upmarket British nosh. Inside, this gastropub really comes into its own with a traditional pub setup and the added bonus of elegant original features. This is where informal bistro tables meet elegant columns, a classic pub bar meets majestic chandeliers and modern streetside dining is juxtaposed with antique interior fireplaces. The Highbury Barn is full of delights and surprises.
You can expect the same for the food too. They're serving thoughtful dishes from the British kitchen as well as tapas, so it's entirely up to you how you'd like to dine. For British crowd-pleasers, opt for beer-battered haddock with chunky chips, Godfrey's sausages drenched in meaty gravy, an oozing beef and ale pie or any of the sumptuous burgers that are jam-packed with salad, gherkins, crispy onions and bacon.
For those who wish to make it more española, dip and dive into the likes of salted cod fritters, fried brie, homemade croquetas and tortilla. You can even sample some Asian flavours with the pork belly bao buns and Japanese-style king prawns. For beautiful gastropub dining with a soft spot for delicious international flavours, it has to be The Highbury Barn every time.
